History

1892

The Chamber of Commerce for the southern part of Tunisia was established in 1892 by virtue of the decree of the Resident General of the French Republic in March 19th 1892 (JORT N°12 of March 24th 1892). It included the regions of Sousse, Kairouan, Sfax, Djerba, Tozeur and the military territories of Gabes and Gafsa and was headquartered was in Sousse.

1895

In 1895 ,the Chamber was renamed the Mixed Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture of the Center limiting its district to the regions of Sousse, Kairouan and Kasserine and thisis according to the decree of May 27, 1895 (JORT No. 24 of May 31, 1895)

1957

After Independence , the chamber took a new name and became the Chamber of Commerce of the centre according with law No. 57-67 of December 1957 and became henceforth a part of the four chambers present all over Tunisia, endowing the chamber with an exclusive sector: Trade.

1988

In 1988 , a new regulatory framework was promulgated in virtue of reactivating the role of chambers of commerce and industry and giving them more prerogatives under the law n ° 88-43 of May 19th, 1988 , a new territorial division was fixed by virtue of decree n ° 88-1027 of June 6th, 1988 . The Central Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Center includes the governorates of Sousse, Monastir, Kairouan, Mahdia and Kasserine

1992

In 1992 , the number of chambers of commerce and industry was doubled from four to eight , under the law n ° 92-112 of 23 November 1992 , a new territorial circonscription of chambers of commerce and industry was determined and this by virtue of the decree n ° 93-1190 of 24 May 1993 , the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Center includes the governorates of Sousse, Monastir, Kairouan and Mahdia

2006

In 2006, the role of the Tunisian Chambers of Commerce and Industry has been redefined in virtue of the Law n ° 2006-75 of November 30, 2006 abrogating thus the law n ° 88-43 of May 19th, 1988. was also redefined the composition of the structures of the Chambers (the committee, the executive office and the commissions) and this by decrees n ° 2007 -80 of January 15, 2007 and n ° 2007-81 of January 15, 2007 .

2013

In 2013, the working and organizing method of the structures of the chambers has been amended in virtue of the Decree N°2013 -1331 of March 7 th 2013.
